Separated Seekers

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no not one" (Psalm 14:1-3). "Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself" (Proverbs 18:1,2).

The way of the foolish was seen in the land
As God looked from heaven above
To see who would seek Him, and thus understand,
And set upon God their heart's love.

Alas! There was no one! No, not even one!
Yet God would not thrust us away,
But sent to this earth His own precious Son,
Though all we like sheep went astray!

Thus prompted by God and convinced by His Spirit,
We fled from the wrath that will come.
Though not every sinner desires to hear it,
The Gospel is still saving some.

We thank You, O Lord, that you loved us first
And sent to the earth Your salvation,
Then gave to our hearts the unquenchable thirst
To find You through our separation.
