Good News of God's Nativity

"Canst thou by searching find out God?" (Job 7:11). "As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country" (Proverbs 25:25). "Behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him" (Matthew 1:1,2).

Wise men came from lands afar
Into Jerusalem
Guided by that wondrous star
That led to Bethlehem.

And though the starlight became dim,
Their joyfulness increased
As still they came to worship Him
And traveled from the east.

Ah! So is good news to the thirst
In all who search and find
That God indeed had sought us first
And drew each heart and mind.

Can we by searching find out God?
The Gospel says we can!
For though our search is weak and flawed,
God draws the heart of man.

We thank You, Lord, for such good news
That came from heaven above,
Which drew our hearts to gladly choose
To search and find Your love!
