Solace in Solitude

"Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.... The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe.... There is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:1,10,24).

There is a solace we must find
When we are all alone,
As in a solitude of mind
We draw near to God's throne.

This is where we find the tower
Of Jesus' lofty name
As here we are renewed with power
And solace that we claim.

This is where we find the Friend
That's closer than a brother;
This is when we comprehend
His love is like no other.

This is where we can retreat
To draw near to our Lord,
As fellowship with Him is sweet
And solace is restored.

This is where we are renewed
With solace by His grace
In times of quiet solitude
When we may seek His face.

Lord, we're lifted by Your love
To heights we could not climb,
To find Your solace from above
Within the quiet time.
