Compelling Compassion

"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him" (Psalm 126:5,6). "He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame" (Proverbs 10:5).

Our Lord's commandment now is "Go!"
Go forth to every nation,
And preach the Gospel that we know
Communicates salvation.

Our own compassion should compel
Our urgency with tears,
For those who blindly march to hell,
As now their judgment nears.

Our precious seed shall surely yield
Its fruit for those who toil
And go forth in the harvest field
Where hearts await as soil.

Now turn us, Lord, to do Your will
Since we have heard Your voice,
Compelled by Your compassion till
With sheaves we may rejoice.
