Will to Work

"So built we the wall; and the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work" (Nehemiah 4:6). "Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.... A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps" (Proverbs 16:3,9).

Nehemiah heard the call,
Along with others too,
To build again the broken wall
As God would have them do.

The people had a willing mind
To build as God had said.
So may we likewise be inclined,
And by the Lord be led.

For surely there's a work today
That isn't yet fulfilled
For every heart that will obey
The Lord's command to build.

Make us willing, Lord, and wise
To build where You assigned;
Not as we ourselves devise,
But as You have designed.
