To Render or To Rebel

"Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts?  Or who hath given understanding to the heart?" (Job 38:36).  "God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth" (Psalm 74:12).  "The LORD hath made all things for Himself… By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil" (Proverbs 16:4,6).  "The Stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the Head of the corner... Render therefore… unto God the things which be God's" (Luke 20:17,25).

Who put the wisdom in our hearts
With understanding to discern
The grace and truth that God imparts
Which rebel sinners choose to spurn?

The Lord Himself who made all things
Has given the ability
For man to choose the grace He brings
That saves our souls eternally.

Our Savior came as our Defender,
Yet some will exercise their choice
To turn away who could surrender
If they would humbly heed His voice.

O Lord, our precious Corner Stone,
Despised by those who would rebel,
We gladly worship You alone
And render all we are as well!
