Folded Hands, Forsaken Harvest

"Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked… They walk on in darkness" (Psalm 82:4,5).  "Deliver them that are drawn unto death… Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: so shall thy poverty come" (Proverbs 24:11,33,34 ).  "The fool foldeth his hands together" (Ecclesiastes 4:5).  "Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest?  Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest" (John 4:35).

The poorest souls that walk on earth
Are those still lost eternally,
For those who have no second birth
Are yet in hopeless poverty!

The folding of our hands to sleep
In harvest with procrastination
Ignores those who are led as sheep
To slaughter without God's salvation.

We've heard the urging of our Lord
Regarding harvest that He gave.
Eternal fruit is the reward
Of souls that Jesus died to save.

O Lord, Your great commission stands,
Yet shall Your harvest be forsaken?
O may we not with folded hands
Be sleeping when we should awaken!
