Advising the Adversaries

"Our God... holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved" (Psalm 66:8,9).  "Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:  for a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again" (Proverbs 24:15,16).  "The LORD of hosts... will deliver... He will preserve" (Isaiah 31:5).  "A great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries" (1 Corinthians 16:9).

Our adversaries yet shall know
That God will hold our soul in life.
His eyes behold His own below,
And He delivers them from strife.

The wicked man may surely wait
Against the righteous where they dwell
And plot against those whom they hate,
Emboldened by advice from hell.

It takes the wicked by surprise
When those who fall still rise up then,
For God will hear His people's cries
And lift them time and time again.

The Lord of hosts delivers us,
And He preserves us by His grace,
Advising adversaries thus,
To spoil not our resting place.

There is a door God opens wide
To serve in every place He sends.
Though adversaries there abide,
They cannot stop whom God defends.

O Lord, advise our adversaries
That You will frustrate what they do
With faithfulness that never varies
And lovingkindness ever new.

Lord, thank You for this confidence:
Your adversaries can't prevail.
Though all of hell be their defense,
You have advised them they will fail.
