Remembered and Redeemed

“The LORD preserved David whithersoever he went... and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people” (2 Samuel 8:14,15).  “O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good: for His mercy endureth forever… Who remembered us in our low estate… and hath redeemed us from our enemies” (Psalm 136:1,23,24).  “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged” (Proverbs 16:6).  “But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord” (2 Corinthians 10:17).

The Lord established David’s throne,
And thus preserved him where he went.
He made God’s truth and justice known
And led them in His covenant.

And yet a King from David’s Seed
Was promised in a coming day
To meet the sinner’s greatest need:
To purge iniquity away!

Give thanks to God, for He is good!
He purged away our sin as dross!
For in our place our Savior stood
And suffered for us on the cross!

We do not hope in our endeavor,
But rather in the work of Christ.
His mercy shall endure forever!
For us our Lord was sacrificed!

Praise God who thus remembered us,
Redeeming us from sin and death!
Give thanks for love so marvelous
As long as we have life and breath!

O Lord, we join the grateful ranks
Of sinners that You have redeemed!
Receive our worship and our thanks
For riches greater than we dreamed!

We glory, Lord, alone in You
As we recall redeeming grace,
For no one loves us like You do;
We have no other Hiding Place!
