Fruitful Fellowship

“All the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh… and they anointed David king over Israel” (2 Samuel 5:1-3).  “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity... It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard… As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” (Psalm 133:1-3).  “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise” (Proverbs 13:20).  “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).

Anointing David on his throne
With Israel restored afresh,
They said, “Behold, we are thy bone”
And all the tribes were David’s “flesh.”

Anointing Aaron as the priest,
We see this unity reflected
And fruitful fellowship increased
With eyes upon God’s priest selected.

As dew upon the mountaintops
To Hermon and to Zion came,
We see where all contention stops:
Their Source of blessing is the same!

Praise God for fellowship so sweet
That starts with Him and flows to others
When two or three together meet
In Jesus’ name as Christian brothers!

It is a joy as well to walk
With those who glorify our Lord,
Rejoicing as they love to talk
Of Christ, our Refuge and Reward.

Lord, since we have the same delight
In You, our precious Lord and Savior,
By godly fear within Your sight,
We seek Your cleansing, saving favor!

Lord, make us fruitful every day
In all we think, and say, and do
In fellowship as we obey
And find our joy in pleasing You.
