"Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.... Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge. An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity. Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools" (Proverbs 19:20-29).
O Lord, we give thanks for the Word of Your truth
That gives us, as fathers, the counsel to lead
And train up our children in their tender youth,
And give them the godly instruction they need!
Cease from the cynical counsel of fools
And from the confusion of godless instruction!
Embedded in business, infecting our schools,
This ungodly counsel will lead to destruction.
Woe to the person, the household, the nation
That laughs with the cynic who blasphemes the Lord!
Woe to the scorner rejecting salvation,
Embracing the counsel with judgment ignored!
O Father in heaven, we thank You today
For truth that outlasts the devices of men!
When all of their falsehood is driven away,
Your counsel alone makes us wise in the end!
