"When the scribes and the Pharisees saw Him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto His disciples, How is it that He eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? When Jesus heard it, He saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" (Mark 2:16,17).
How is it that our Lord invites
The sinner to His table?
How can sinners have such rights?
By grace He makes us able!
How could sinners so diseased
With sin be rendered whole?
We praise the Lord who has been pleased
To cure the sin-sick soul!
O Lord, we praise You for Your love
That stooped to lift us up
To seat us with You up above,
And at Your table sup.
We thank You for Your remedy
By which we now are cured
Because You went to Calvary
And for our souls endured.
