The Book and the Bride

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.... And I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her Husband" (Revelation 20:12, 21:2).

I saw the dead, both small and great,
As told in Revelation,
Who from the books would learn their fate
Who stood without salvation.

And yet there was another book,
Which is the book of life,
Confirming those the Lord God took
To be His holy wife.

She is the new Jerusalem,
Containing those He bought.
The blood of Christ washed all of them,
Removing every spot!

How great the contrast in this vision
Between the saved and lost,
Who see the worth of their decision
By its eternal cost!

Thank You, Lord, for such a choice
Your grace to us affords,
To choose the Lamb and thus rejoice
To know we are the Lord's!
