"But if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the eyes of them that believe not, lest the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them" (2 Corinthians 4:3,4).
How horrible is this condition
That renders unbelievers blind,
Who march toward their own perdition,
And cast the Gospel's hope behind.
Our Gospel to the lost is hidden,
And yet we know the reasons why:
They turned away, though they were bidden,
And then were blinded by a lie.
Their daily nightmare does not cease!
The wake each day in hopelessness.
They find no meaning and no peace,
As laughter hides their deep distress.
There is an answer to their plight:
The Gospel still has saving power
To draw the lost into the light
And save their souls this very hour!
That light is shining now with grace;
The Word of God is verified.
His promises in Christ we trace
Were all fulfilled as prophesied.
The Lord will open eyes today;
His Spirit still reproves the lost.
Let's preach the Gospel while we may,
By every means, at any cost.
