"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins" (1 John 4:10).
Love so pure, so great, so kind
Displayed in our Lord Jesus Christ
Instructs our heart, our soul, and mind
By His body sacrificed.
Herein we may understand
Where the truest love begins:
It wasn't us, but God who planned
A way to take away our sins.
God the Father sent His Son
To be our sins' propitiation.
Look upon what Love has done,
And rejoice in His salvation!
Let this lesson now suffice
To teach what love is all about:
Love has paid the highest price,
Defining love that leaves no doubt.
