Dining and Discerning

"All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God" (Psalm 98:3).  "Come, eat of My bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.  Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding" (Proverbs 9:5,6).  "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned" (Song of Solomon 8:7).  "Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine… Lovest thou Me?... Feed My sheep… Follow thou Me" (John 21:12,17,22).

How great is our Lord's demonstration
Of love to the ends of the earth
Providing His wondrous salvation
That offers the lost a new birth!

His table prepared has displayed
The symbols of bread and of wine.
Christ's body and blood are portrayed,
As He bids us now, "Come and dine!"

Beholding the Lamb sacrificed,
We set our affections above
To worship our Lord Jesus Christ
And thank Him for His endless love!

While dining, Lord, we are discerning
That true love shall lead us to do
The things You command with a yearning
That we may be pleasing to You.
