Hearing from Heaven

"Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that Thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that Thine hand might be with me, and that Thou wouldest keep me from evil that it may not grieve me!  And God granted him that which he requested" (1 Chronicles 4:10).  "The LORD our God, who dwelleth on high… raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill" (Psalm 113:5-7).  "The Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil" (2 Thessalonians 3:3). 

The prayer of Jabez gives direction

To show that God has heard our prayers

To bless us, granting His protection,

As we have cast on Him our cares. 

The Lord who dwells on high has heard

The humble prayer of those who trust

That He is faithful to His Word

To raise the poor out of the dust. 

The Lord is faithful to His own

Who call on Him and seek His face.   

He answers them from heaven's throne,

Establishing their hearts with grace. 

O Lord, we know the day is nearing

When we shall meet You in the air,

Yet till that day You still are hearing   

From heaven every whispered prayer.
