Treasure the Truth

"Thy Word is true from the beginning: and every one of Thy righteous judgments endureth forever" (Psalm 119:160).  "The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things" (Proverbs 15:28).  "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh" (Luke 6:45).

How precious is the Word of God
Inspired and preserved forever!
His counsels found are never flawed,
Equipping us for each endeavor.

We're called to answer with God's Word
The questions that the seeker brings.
We study and are thus assured
As God's Word speaks about these things.

We know deception will abound
As evil things shall be outpoured
From every mouth where lies are found
Which flow from hearts that spurn the Lord.

We study now to fill our heart
With truth we draw from heaven's treasure
So that we also may impart
The standard of God's perfect measure.

It doesn't matter how sincere
Or earnest the deceived may be.
Eternity is drawing near;
We need the truth that makes us free!

The Lord has called us to be ready
To answer falsehood when it's spoken.
The Word of God is sure and steady;
Its promises are never broken.

Lord, thank You for the riches gained
In Scriptures that You gave to us.
The treasure of Your truth explained
Within Your Word is marvelous!

Lord, till we see You face to face,
Beholding riches yet untold,
Instruct us daily by Your grace
In treasures of the truth we hold.

O Lord, the truth of Your salvation
Is treasured in the hearts You win.
We take Your Gospel's invitation
To souls You long to save from sin.
