Messianic Types in Mordecai's Times

"The declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, whereunto the king advanced him... great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed" (Esther 10:2,3).  "And journeying toward Jerusalem... He [Jesus] said unto them... Ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.... O Jerusalem, Jerusalem... how often would I have gathered thy children together... and ye would not!" (Luke 13:22-34).

In Mordecai, throughout his days,
Great Messianic types were shown,
As his afflictions led to praise
And greatness then among His own.

Accepted of the multitude
Of all his brethren he would lead,
The times of Mordecai conclude
With "speaking peace to all his seed."

These types reflect the time to come
When Christ shall reign from sea to sea
Throughout His great millennium
And then through all eternity!

Yet Mordecai had been afflicted,
And so our Lord would be as well
Upon the cross, as He predicted,
To save us from eternal hell.

Our Savior spoke of heaven's peace,
Yet journeyed to Jerusalem
To crowds demanding His decease;
And there He tasted death for them.

Jerusalem, your Savior would
Endure then the unspeakable!
There is no more Messiah could
Have done to save the sinner's soul.

The days of Christ's humiliation
Upon the cross are in the past.
The time to preach of His salvation
Is NOW, and time is going fast!

O Lord, we marvel at Your greatness
As Mordecai had once portrayed,
And now we sense the hour's lateness
With signs of your return displayed.

The Messianic types we trace,
Like Mordecai and many more,
O Lord, astound us with Your grace
As in amazement, we adore!
