Driven or Drawn

"I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD... I cried unto Thee; save me" (Psalm 119:145,146).  "The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death" (Proverbs 14:32).  "Jesus answering said unto them... I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" (Luke 5:31,32).

How strange is the half-hearted prayer
From hearts that are not really stirred,
As if God were not really there
To hear and respond with His Word.

The prayer God is waiting to hear
From sinners who earnestly pray
Is moved by a serious fear,
Lest they should be driven away.

The days of our life are soon gone.
The Lord calls for all to repent.
With cords of His love we are drawn;
For this cause His Spirit is sent.

We all have choice that is given
To draw near or turn from the Lord,
And those who reject Him are driven
In death to their awful reward.

The Lord knows our heart's inclination
As sinners to stray from our God,
To turn from the way of salvation
And into the path that is broad.

Our Savior is calling to all
With wisdom that comes from above.
How sweet is the voice of His call
To all who respond to His love!

Lord, thank for marvelous grace
That calls those not searching for You
And draws them to into Your embrace
To find You are faithful and true.

The choices You give, Lord, are plain:
There's no other path one may take,
For all You will draw find great gain;
All others shall mourn their mistake.
