Price of His Pleasure

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee. The LORD make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee. The LORD lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace” (Numbers 6:24-26). “Our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased…. The LORD hath been mindful of us: He will bless us…. He will bless them that fear the LORD…. Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth” (Psalm 115:3-15). “The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but He blesseth the habitation of the just” (Proverbs 3:33). “It pleased the Lord to bruise Him… when Thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin” (Isaiah 53:10).

Our God is high on heaven’s throne;
He reigns eternally supreme,
And yet He made His pleasure known
To bless the souls He would redeem.

The earth and heavens, so extensive,
He made with thus a word expressed.
But blessing us was more expensive:
For by His suffering, we were blessed!

There was a price so very high
To bless us as the Lord desired:
The Lord our God Himself must die
To pay the price our sin required!

The Lord would make His face to shine,
But O how marred that face would be
Because His love would not decline
To bear our curse at Calvary!

O Lord, we thank You for such love
That weighed the pleasure and the price
For heaven’s blessings from above
Afforded by Your sacrifice!
