“Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death” (Proverbs 11:4).
Our riches surely profit not
When judgment day arrives,
For righteousness cannot be bought,
And nothing else survives.
Since righteousness is what we need
To rescue us from wrath,
We dare not let deception lead
To any other path.
It’s not a time to second guess,
Since God has made it plain:
We need His perfect righteousness,
And all else will be vain.
Religion shall not be esteemed,
Regardless of tradition.
Unless at last we are redeemed,
Our souls must face perdition.
O Lord, we thank You for the price
For righteousness You paid
Through Your amazing sacrifice
Upon the cross displayed.
We thank You, Lord, You freely give
This righteousness You’ve shown,
And those who trust in You shall live
By grace, and grace alone!
