Not Ashamed and Now Assured

“I will speak of Thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed” (Psalm 119:46).

Our Lord and Savior surely came
As Scripture promised He would do.
So why, then, would it cause us shame
To now affirm that this is true?

It doesn’t matter who they are:
For Jews and Gentiles, paupers, kings,
The rich and poor, those near and far,
And young and old should hear these things.

It is the truth that makes us free.
It is the Gospel some resist.
It manifests eternity,
Which mockers hope does not exist.

Yet we who know the Gospel truth
Should be prepared and unashamed
To teach its precepts to our youth
That they may be as arrows aimed.

We thank You, Lord, that You equip
Your people with Your precious Word.
The Gospel is our stewardship:
We’re not ashamed and now assured!
