Blessed Business

“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD…. that seek Him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in His ways” (Psalm 119:1-3). “And He said unto them… Wist ye not that I must be about My Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49).

Our “things to do” list may be long,
Our business practice we may learn,
Yet our priorities are wrong
If God is not our first concern.

To others we may look okay
As we excel and men applaud,
And yet our heart may go astray
When we forget the Lord our God.

Our Savior’s words were surely true
When in His boyhood from the start:
His “Father’s business” He must do,
Which He would do with all His heart.

Is not this true for us as well?
Shall not this be our motive’s test?
Should not our love for Christ compel
A heart for Him to do our best?

Lord, thank You that You’ve shown us how,
With blessing that You daily give,
To be about Your business now:
Wholeheartedly for You to live.
