Word and Wings

"Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him" (Proverbs 30:5). "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not" (Matthew 23:37).

The Word of God is pure indeed;
It holds the balm by which we're healed.
It is the truth by which we're freed
By trusting God, who is our Shield.

For all who trust the Lord will find
He shields them just a would hen,
Since Christ our Savior was so kind,
He gave Himself for sinful men.

O Lord, we thank You for Your Word
And for the Gospel that it brings.
With grateful worship we are stirred
Beneath the shadow of Your wings.
