Perfecting v. Perishing

"The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth forever: forsake not the works of Thine own hands" (Psalm 138:8). "O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in anger, lest Thou bring me to nothing" (Jeremiah 10:23). "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect" (Matthew 5:48).

The Lord who saves us from our sin
Then gives us His direction,
And that is when He will begin
To work on our perfection.

We surely know we would have perished
Without so great a Savior,
And now because we are so cherished,
He transforms our behavior.

O Lord, we know Your way for man
Is not from human hearts,
But rather through Your perfect plan
Where our perfection starts.
