Remembering our Rescuer

"And God remembered Noah... and the waters assuaged; the fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained" (Genesis 8:1,2). "If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side... then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul" (Psalm 124:1-4).

If it hadn't been the Lord
Then none would have been saved
When the rains of heaven poured
To judge a world depraved.

The flood above the mountains
Assuaged by God's command.
The deep then stopped her fountains,
By God's arresting hand.

Our God remembered Noah then
And brought him through the flood.
And He remembered sinful men,
And shed for them His blood.

Remember now that rescue well,
Which granted us new birth!
Refresh your memory and tell
How Jesus came to earth.

A Child was born to bear our load
And rescue us from sin.
The judgment waters overflowed
And plunged Him deep within.

But on the third day He arose
And conquered thus the grave.
We recall Him with all those
Christ Jesus came to save.
