"They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from Thy law. Thou art near, O Lord; and all Thy commandments are truth" (Psalm 119:150,151). "There is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24).
The mischievous are drawing near
Who hate the law of God.
And many give to them an ear,
Approve them, and applaud.
Yet God is with us, praise His name,
Our Lord, Emmanuel!
What a comfort we can claim,
Assured that all is well!
For God has never left His own;
His promises are true.
The Lord is ruling on His throne;
He sees what sinners do.
There is day of reckoning
Approaching even now
When sinners who have mocked our King
Shall then be forced to bow.
Thus we comfort one another
Until He shall appear:
Our Lord sticks closer than a brother;
He is a Friend that's near.
