Curse of Convenience

"And as he [Paul] reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee" (Acts 24:25).

How deep the pit, how steep the climb,
Convenience may achieve,
When opportunity and time
Are passed by to believe!

Tomorrow's time is an illusion,
Betraying expectation.
It mocks us with our own confusion
By our procrastination.

The future surely will not bow
To our convenient season.
God is calling sinners now,
Come now, let us reason!

Convenience is an awful curse,
That vainly trusts tomorrow.
Day by day grows only worse,
Compounding thus our sorrow.

Seize the moment, while you can,
To come to Christ today.
There is no secondary plan
If time sweeps you away.
