Awaiting the Awakening

"As for me, I will behold Thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied when I awake with Thy likeness" (Psalm 17:15). "The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death" (Proverbs 14:32).

The length of this life is not what it seems
When seen from eternity's view.
Its treasures and pleasures are like empty dreams
That vanish, as dreams always do.

This life shall be over and we shall awake,
With all who are saved by God's grace,
To rise in His likeness, transformed for His sake,
And then we shall see Jesus' face.

This is our hope, our great expectation,
That not even death can defeat.
And we shall be like Him! Oh, what a salvation,
That finds us in Christ so complete!
