Senseless Sinners

"Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding" (Psalm 119:73).  "Go in the way of understanding… The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding… If thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it" (Proverbs 9:6,10,12).  "Thus saith the Lord… In returning and rest shall ye be saved… and ye would not... But ye said, No" (Isaiah 30:15,16).  "Despisest thou the riches of His goodness… not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?" (Romans 2:4). 

Our great Creator understands

The grace and wisdom that we need. 

Since we've been fashioned by His hands,

It's senseless not to let Him lead.     

The Lord has shown to us His way:

The fear of God gives understanding,

Yet fools would rather go astray

And scorn the way He is commanding.   

The Lord has called for a returning

To find the rest that He will show

To those who for His grace are yearning,

Yet rebel sinners will say, "No!" 

How senseless are the sinners, Lord,

Who yet despise Your saving grace

As all Your goodness is ignored

By those who will not seek Your face!
