Lost without the Lord

"If it had not been the LORD who was on our side… Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul… Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare… Our help is in the name of the LORD" (Psalm 124:2-8).  "As for our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His name" (Isaiah 47:4).  "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).  "Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:11).

But for the Lord, where would we be
When we were ushered through the door
Of time into eternity?
Alas!  In hell forevermore!

Our Lord went forth to break the snare
That waited for us at the grave.
His own life, then, He would not spare;
There was no other way to save.

If not for Christ, we would be lost!
Salvation has no other claim
Except that Jesus paid the cost
To rescue us!  O praise His name!

We would be lost without You, Lord;
You are the Sure Foundation laid.
The ransom we could not afford
By You upon Your cross was paid!
