Cloudy yet Clear

"I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet… all Thy commandments are faithful" (Psalm 119:83,86).  "Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death" (Proverbs 10:2).  "Woe to them that… look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!" (Isaiah 31:1).  "For what if some did not believe?  Shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?  God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar… that He might be Just, and the Justifier of him which believeth in Jesus" (Romans 3:3,4,26).

How clear are the words Jesus spoke
With truth that is making us free,
In contrast to all of the smoke
Of falsehood today that we see.

Though people put faith in their treasures
And try not to think of the grave,
Obscuring their vision with pleasures,
These things neither profit nor save.

The smoke does not change what is there,
It simply is masking the danger.
If souls will not seek God in prayer,
They'll stand before Him as a stranger!

O Lord, it is cloudy, yet clear,
As You are unmasking the liar.
We're pleading with all who will hear
To trust You as their Justifier!
