Banner on the Battlefield

"We will rejoice in Thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners… Some trust… in horses, but we will remember the name of the LORD our God" (Psalm 20:5,7).  "There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.  The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD" (Proverbs 21:30,31).  "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest" (Matthew 9:37,38).

We raise our banner of defense,
Rejoicing in our Lord's salvation.
In Christ we have our confidence;
He is our Cause for celebration.

Though some may trust in other things
Like horses all prepared for battle,
Without the safety our Lord brings,
They're led to slaughter, as are cattle.

We raise the banner of the cross
On battlefields of gravest danger
Where souls shall suffer endless loss
Who meet their Maker as a stranger.

Our banner on the battlefield
Is raised in fields of harvest too,
To show that You, Lord, are the Shield
Of all who place their trust in You.
