Praise for the Pardon

"Thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness" (Nehemiah 9:17).  "Thou art holy, O Thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel… They shall praise the LORD that seek Him… They shall… declare His righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that He hath done this" (Psalm 22:3,26,31).  "My son, give Me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe My ways" (Proverbs 23:26).  "Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

How kind is our God who has pardoned
And drawn us with cords of His love,
Who softened the heart we once hardened
And set our affections above!

How holy is God in His ways
With righteousness that we declare,
As He now inhabits the praise
Of souls He has saved from despair!

How sweet is our Lord's invitation
To give to Him all of our heart,
To trust Him in each situation
For grace He will freely impart!

We praise You for pardon, O Lord,
That spared us from infinite loss,
With rest we could never afford,
Procured by Your death on the cross!
