"Ezra… a ready scribe… had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel" (Ezra 7:6,10). "LORD, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble: Thou wilt prepare their heart" (Psalm 10:17). "He that winneth souls is wise" (Proverbs 11:30). "He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful… I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely" (Revelation 21:5,6).
God's school is
in session today
For scribes who desire
to hear
The truth that
the Scriptures convey
That His Holy
Spirit makes clear.
Like Ezra, whose
heart was prepared
To seek, and to
do, and to teach
The Law of the
Lord he declared,
We likewise have
souls we may reach.
Should not we be
ready to write
The things that
our Lord has made known
When Scripture
has shed a new light
On marvelous
truths He has shown?
O Lord, what a
noble profession
You give as we
take up the pen!
The school of
the scribe is in session
Each day as we hear
You again.
