Suckling Servants

"We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth" (Ezra 5:11).  "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength because of Thine enemies, that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger" (Psalm 8:2).  "Wisdom… saith… The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverb 9:1,4,10).  "His name is called The Word of God… Out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron" (Revelation 19:13-15).

The servants of Almighty God

Who made the heaven and the earth,

Now spread the tidings all abroad  

That souls may have a second birth. 

Thus sucklings who are heaven-born

Are now ordained by Christ to speak

To still the tongues of those who scorn

And show His truth to those who seek. 

We are but sucklings, in a sense,

Who are commissioned from above,

Yet we may speak with confidence

As we proclaim our Savior's love.   

We are Your suckling servants, Lord,

Because we are Your new creations,

Yet from Your mouth shall come the sword

With which You shall subdue the nations.
