Greatness of God

"For Thou art great, and doest wondrous things: Thou art God alone... For great is Thy mercy toward me: and Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell" (Psalm 86:10,13).  "Whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil" (Proverbs 1:33).  "Nineveh... shall flee away... none shall look back" (Nahum 2:8).  "Jesus said... I am the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live" (John 11:25). 

The greatness of God can be measured

By showing He does all things well. 

The greatest of things I have treasured

Is that He has saved me from hell. 

How wondrously Christ will defend  

And quiet our souls from the fear  

Of evil that comes in the end  

With judgment that draws ever near. 

Though Nineveh turned to the Lord

When Jonah had preached in the past,

God's greatness was later ignored,

And judgment descended at last. 

Lord, thank You for peace amid strife,

Displaying the greatness of God

Through Your resurrection and life,

Which all of Your children applaud.
