Heaven vs. Herod

"Vain is the help of man.  Through God we shall do valiantly" (Psalm 108:12,13).  "Their Redeemer is mighty... Surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off" (Proverbs 23:11,18).  "Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, and against the Man that is My Fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the Shepherd" (Zechariah 13:7).  "And upon a set day Herod... gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.  But the Word of God grew and multiplied " (Acts 12:21-24).

The conflict that continues now
Has long endured throughout the ages,
But every knee to Christ shall bow
In every nation that yet rages.

Though Christ has died and thus redeemed
The souls He rescued as the Lamb,
Things were not then as they had seemed,
For this was God, the great I Am!

Against our Savior came the sword
Which for our sake would then awaken,
Yet those rejecting Him as Lord
Shall surely know they were mistaken.

As Herod gave not God the glory,
And heaven is resisted still,
O Lord, the ending of the story
Shall be the triumph of Your will!
