Messiah's Mindset

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:5-8).

Behold the mindset of our Savior,
For we are called to have the same
As we reflect on His behavior
Upon the cross to bear our shame.

Before He came to Galilee
Or Bethlehem had seen His birth,
He laid aside His majesty
To rescue sinners on the earth.

He set aside His reputation,
Divesting then His outward splendor,
That He might bring to us salvation
As He became our soul’s Defender.

So as a humble Servant then,
He came to earth to die for us.
Made in the likeness seen in men,
His humble heart was marvelous!

Thus found in fashion as a Man,
He knew what He had come to do:
He carried out redemption’s plan
Upon the cross when He was through.

Behold this Man, so meek and lowly!
Behold our King in Christ as well!
Behold our God, so high and holy,
Who came to save our souls from hell!

O Lord, we see Your mindset here
Descending in this humble fashion
To set us free from sin and fear
Upon the cross by Your compassion.

Lord, as we’re called to imitate
Humility in You we find,
We call on You to now create
This likeness in our heart and mind.

Lord, till we see You face to face
Forevermore with You above,
We show the mindset of Your grace
And demonstration of Your love.
