Fruit of His Favor

“Blessed is the man that heareth Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at the posts of My doors.  For whoso findeth Me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.  But he that sinneth against Me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate Me love death” (Proverbs 8:34-36).  “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance” (Galatians 5:22,23).

God’s daily blessing for us waits
As God extends His invitation
To all those watching at His gates
To hear His voice with expectation.

We’re called to thus expect His favor
Of daily blessing He extends
Which draws us to our Lord and Savior
Whose lovingkindness never ends.

How horrible the contrast is
For those rejecting God’s control,
Refusing counsel that His,
And thereby wronging their own soul.

The counsel coming from God’s Spirit
Reproves those who refuse God’s Word,
But those who earnestly will hear it,
Shall reap the fruit of what they’ve heard.

The Spirit’s fruit is love, joy, peace,
Longsuffering, gentleness in hearts,
With goodness, faith He will increase,
With meekness, temperance He imparts.

O Lord, we see within each fruit
The qualities we would pursue.
The beauty of each attribute
Reflects the life we find in You.

We thank You, Lord, for fruit You give
As we have learned to trust You more.
There is no sweeter life to live,
No greater treasure to explore.
