Benevolent Because

“Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name” (Psalm 91:14).  “My son, give Me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe My ways” (Proverbs 23:26).  “Ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:9,10).

Because our Savior first loved us
We gladly set our love on Him.
His love for us is marvelous!
Are not all others rendered dim?

Because He is the great Defender
Of all who call upon His name,
Our joy is found in full surrender
To Christ who bore our sin and shame.

Because the Lord will not depart
From those know Him as their Savior,
Our Father says, “Give Me thine heart,”
As we observe His ways and favor.

Because we’ve turned to Jesus Christ
And left our idols thus behind,
Our eyes behold Him sacrificed,
For now we see, who once were blind.

Because we serve the living God
Who saved us from the coming wrath,
He comforts us with staff and rod
And leads us on salvation’s path.

Because, Lord, You are coming back
To reign on earth as King of kings,
We know Your promise is not slack
Which, in Your time, fulfillment brings.

Because, O Lord, the day draws near
When You shall gather all Your own,
We wait with patience as we’re here,
Yet labor now to make You known.

Because we have Your true report,
Lord, as we labor, make us strong,
For life on earth is very short;
Eternity is very long.
