“Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God… The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there” (Psalm 87:3,6). “The Father… hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son: in whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:12-14).
There
is a glorious shining city
In
which the born again shall dwell,
For
God so loved them with such pity,
He
died to save their souls from hell!
The
Lamb of God for us was smitten;
Upon
the cross He bore our shame.
In
heaven now the names are written
Of
all who call upon His name.
In
this how greatly we rejoice,
To
know our names are listed there,
Recalling
when we made the choice
To
call on Christ, who heard our prayer!
The
Lord then made us fit to be
Partakers
with the saints in light.
From
darkness He has set us free;
We’re
counted blameless in His sight!
We
have redemption through His blood,
Through
which He has forgiven sin.
When
judgment rises like a flood,
The
Ark is Christ; God shuts us in.
We’re
citizens of heaven’s glory
Within
the kingdom ruled by Christ,
Yet
still on earth to tell the story
Of
our Redeemer sacrificed.
O
Lord, we thank You for the way
You
rescued us from Satan’s power:
You
drew our hearts to humbly pray
And
saved us in that very hour!
We
thank You, Lord, for heaven’s list
Of
souls who now are born anew.
Apart
from grace, we would have missed
Salvation
we have found in You!
Lord,
help us in these fleeting days
To
draw more hearts to see Your love,
So
they may likewise sing Your praise
With
those on heaven’s list above.
