Rejoicing in Reality

“I will be glad and rejoice in Thee: I will sing praise to Thy name, O thou Most High” (Psalm 9:2).  “If thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding… as for hid treasures, then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God” (Proverbs 2:3-5).  “Ye… rejoice in a thing of naught, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?” (Amos 6:13).  “A great number believed, and turned unto the Lord… When [Barnabas] came, and had seen the grace of God, [he] was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord” (Acts 11:23,24).

Rejoicing in reality,
Our hearts delight in Jesus Christ.
He is the Truth that makes us free,
Since He, for us, was sacrificed.

Reality is not a fad
That changes with the latest whim;
Our risen Savior makes us glad,
For our salvation is from Him!

All those who have refused the Lord
Will surely have a dimmer view:
Since truth is willfully ignored,
They cannot know what’s plainly true.

Rejoicing in a thing of naught
Shall never change what really is.
The Lord our God has clearly taught
That all the absolutes are His.

Be not surprised that many hate
Reality opposing them.
The truth which sinners now berate,
When they are done, shall still condemn.

Our Savior is the great “I Am”
Extending now His great salvation.
Behold God’s sacrificial Lamb
Who takes away our condemnation!

We see the joy of Barnabas
As he beheld God’s work of grace;
That gladness now extends to us
Who find in Christ our Hiding Place.

How great the treasures are we find
In Christ, the Fountainhead of favor!
Reality gives peace of mind
When Christ becomes our Lord and Savior.

O Lord, in You we now delight,
And in reality believe:
Your evidence confirms we’re right
To trust in You and firmly cleave!

In You alone, Lord, we rejoice
As with the Gospel we are sent.
Reality demands a choice:
To turn away or to repent.
