Mercies of Ministries

“Take away the filthy garments from him…. Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment… Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in My ways, and if thou wilt keep My charge, then… I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by” (Zechariah 3:4,7).  “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service… having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us” (Romans 12:1,6).

Behold the mercies of our Lord
Who takes away our filthy clothes
And gives us garments which afford
A ministry that He bestows.

Thus clothed in garments of His grace
Reflecting His own righteousness,
He gives His servants each a place
To minister where He will bless.

How rightly the apostle Paul
Beseeches every one in Christ
By mercies to surrender all
As those alive, yet sacrificed.

How great indeed this privilege is
As God bestows on us this favor
To be ambassadors of His
To show the mercies of our Savior!

Consider how our Savior lifts
Our souls, once clothed in sin and shame,
To minister, equipped with gifts
By which we glorify His name!

The angels now must watch with wonder
At mercies God extends to us,
As we are servants prone to blunder,
Yet serve our Lord so glorious!

O Lord, we give You thanks this day
For mercies You so freely give:
All we like sheep have gone astray;
You gave Your life that we might live!

Lord, cleanse us thoroughly within
As sacrifices purged from leaven.
You died to save us from us our sin;
You rose to guarantee us heaven.

Until we’re gathered at Your throne
With Your redeemed on heaven’s shores,
Lord, help us make Your mercies known
And serve as Your ambassadors.
