"Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am He that liveth, and was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death" (Revelation 1:17,18).
We start the new, uncharted year
With joy and confidence ahead,
As Jesus bids us not to fear,
For He now lives, though He was dead!
Behold, He lives forevermore,
And He alone now holds the keys
That opens every prison door
Of hell and death from which He frees.
O Lord, You are the first and last;
From everlasting You have been.
And when the proper time has passed,
We know that You will come again.
Lord, with this year still in its dawn,
We'd consecrate ourselves anew,
Redeeming time before it's gone
By living faithfully for You.
O Lord, our King, the keys You hold
Have now unlocked our prison cell.
We thank You for Your grace untold
Which rescued us from death and hell!
