"And the LORD said unto Moses.... Be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning... and present thyself there to Me in the top of the mount.... Observe thou that which I command thee this day" (Exodus 34:1-11). "Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John to be baptized of him.... and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him: and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:13-17).
Be ready early in the morning
To hear what God will say,
Give heed to every word of warning
And each command this day.
Present yourself to Him alone,
And as your heart is stirred,
Anticipate that He'll make known
The insights of His Word.
As Moses listened to the Lord
To know how he should lead,
The Word of God shall still afford
The counsel that we need.
As John the Baptist saw the dove
Descend upon the Savior,
The Spirit sent from God above
Still shows to us His favor.
O Lord, how much we need to hear
The Word You daily give!
We thank You that You draw us near
To teach us how to live.
