The Sea Saw

"The waters saw Thee, O God, the waters saw Thee; they were afraid: the depth also were troubled.... Thy way is in the sea, and Thy path in the great waters, and Thy footsteps are not known. Thou leddest Thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron" (Psalm 77:16-20).

How clearly God's way has been shown
Throughout this world's history,
And yet His footsteps are not known:
Well, who then parted the Red sea?

The waters surely saw Him when
The flood was lifting up the ark.
And yet, rejecting light again,
This world prefers to have it dark.

How can this world be so blind,
So foolish in their vain resistance?
In spite of all things God designed,
They question still His plain existence!

A cloud by day, a flame by night
Led Israel through the desert land,
Yet many still refused the light,
Though led by God with Moses' hand.

O Lord, Your evidence still shouts,
Though people yet refuse to hear,
Yet help us to dispels the doubts
For those who lend an honest ear.
