Pity on the Perishing

"Unless Thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished" (Psalm 119:92).  "Where there is no vision, the people perish… but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe" (Proverbs 29:18,25).  "The lion hath roared, who will not fear?  The Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" (Amos 3:8).  "He that had been possessed with the devil prayed Him that he might be with Him… Jesus… saith unto him, Go home… tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee" (Mark 5:18,19).

Unless the Lord had prophesied
So clearly of His great salvation,
I would have perished when I died
In hopeless, endless condemnation.

Prophetic Scripture gave me vision
To show the reason that sufficed
With ample proof for my decision
To place my trust in Jesus Christ.

When Amos prophesied of wrath,
It was as if a lion roared
Approaching nearer on the path:
The coming judgment of the Lord.

We see Your pity, Lord, today,
Portrayed in those You send to tell
That You are still the only Way
That saves the perishing from hell.
