Peleg's Path

"Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber... And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg (Heb. river; stream), for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan (Heb. diminished; of no account).  "Make me to go in the path of Thy commandments; for therein do I delight" (Psalm 119:35).  "For whoso findeth Me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD" (Proverbs 8:35).  "Be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me" (Acts 27:31).

There is a pathway like a river
That leads to life when it is finished,
Unlike the path that won't deliver
On promises which are diminished.

The path from Peleg brought our Savior,
The line of blessing out of Shem,
By whom the river of God's favor
Would bring our Lord to Bethlehem.

The earth, divided then indeed,
Recovering then from wrath divine,
Was looking for the promised Seed,
Whom God would bring from Peleg's line.

O Lord, the earth is still divided,
For You have come from Peleg's path
To save the lost who have confided
In You to rescue them from wrath.
